An Unexpected Antiferroptotic Activity of a Sterol Metabolite

Paris-Redox-2020-Speakers-Jose-Friedmann-AngeliDr. Jose Friedmann-Angeli from the University of Würzburg, Germany will join the Paris Redox 2020 and present his study entitled "An Unexpected Antiferroptotic Activity of a Sterol Metabolite" during the ISANH Symposium - Ferroptosis.

Summary of Talk: Ferroptosis is a cell death modality entailing the oxidative degradation of phospholipids. This process has been linked to tissue degeneration in the context of neurodegeneration and well as ischaemia reperfusion injury. Currently, there is an emerging interest in the identification of factors regulating sensitivity to this form of cell death. Here, we present the characterization of an unexpected antiferroptotic activity of an intracellular metabolite previously associated with a metabolic syndrome.
